Mayor Irwin Edelson, Deputy Mayor Linda Bobo and Councilman Kurt Folcher have donated their net monthly stipends to Mount Laurel first responders and will continue to do so for the duration of the statewide public health emergency.

Mayor Edelson’s net stipend of $453 was donated to the Mount Laurel Firefighters Foundation. Deputy Mayor Bobo’s net stipend of $440 was donated to the police department and Councilman Folcher’s $402 went to the township emergency medical services department.
Deputy Mayor Bobo acknowledged the donations are modest, but all the officials highlighted the donations as a tangible way to thank Mount Laurel’s first responders who continue to work in the midst of a statewide public health emergency.
Mayor Edelson elaborated that the township would find a way to publicly acknowledge the service of first responders once the public health emergency was resolved.
In the meantime, the Firefighter’s Foundation will use the funds for charitable causes and maintenance of the 9/11 memorial. Police Chief Riedener stated that the funds would be used to purchase PPE (personal protection equipment).
